Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate is a tablet containing 300mg of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (equivalent to 245mg of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate) per tablet. This specification can only be used for anti-HIV therapy.

Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate is used in combination with other antiretroviral drugs to treat HIV-1 infection.
Additional important information regarding the use of tenofovir disoproxil fumarate for HIV-1 infection: Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate should not be used in combination with TRUVADA or ATRIPLA.
Pharmacological effects
This product is a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor that inhibits reverse transcriptase in a manner similar to nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors and thus has potential anti-HIV-1 activity. The active ingredient, tenofovir bisphosphate, inhibits viral polymerases by directly and competitively binding to natural deoxyribose substrates and terminates DNA strands by insertion into DNA. In vitro, it is effective against a variety of viruses, including those resistant to nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors. In vitro, IC50 was 1.6 micromol for wild type HIV-1, 4.9 micromol for HIV-2, and 1.1 micromol for HBV.
