Emtricitabine is a chemically synthesized nucleoside cytosine, and its anti-HIV-1 mechanism is through multi-step phosphorylation to form a cellular active 5'-triphosphate. 5'-triphosphate is combined with natural 5-phosphate. 
Cytosine competitively penetrates into the process of viral DNA synthesis, eventually leading to its DNA strand breaks, thereby competitively inhibiting the activities of HIV-1 reverse transcriptase and HBV-DNA polymerase.

USE：
